How to actually get in for free
- Himmelswerkstatt: free Christmas craft workshop for children aged 6-12 in the New Town Hall: Register with the Kindermuseum München; places open ten days before the date.
- Live Advent music plays from the town-hall balcony from 17:15, Sunday to Thursday.
- The Krampus run - 300+ Krampus and Perchten figures - crosses the market on Sunday 13 December, 15:00-17:00.
- Take any S-Bahn or U3/U6 to Marienplatz; there is no parking and bikes are not allowed in the market area.
- New for 2026: it opens on Friday 20 November, but is shut again on Sunday 22 November (Totensonntag).
