How to actually get in for free
- From 1 November the castle closes at 6pm (last entry 5:30pm).
- Under-12s are free; 13-25s pay half.
- Lisbon residents no longer get in free (ended July 2025) - everyone pays except the listed exemptions.
- The Camera Obscura is visited only by guided tour (included), weather permitting.

Opening hours & how to get there
Open daily. Summer (1 March-31 October): 9am-9pm, last admission 8:30pm. Winter (1 November-end February): 9am-6pm, last admission 5:30pm. Walls and towers close earlier (from 6pm in summer depending on daylight, 5:30pm in winter). Closed 1 January, 1 May, 24, 25 and 31 December.
